We
are seeking a new member of staff. The successful applicant should…
- Have
good communication and presentation skills, be aware of how our image
counts, and be neat and tidy. Keeping up appearances is vital to this
business.
- Have
a friendly, outgoing, but patient personality. Providing superb customer
service is a vital element of this job. Experience in, and an understanding
of the nature of customer service and the ability to deliver it consistently
with a smile is essential to the job.
- Be
a team player. At Cycle Heaven you will be part of a small team. You
will need the ability to work comfortably and efficiently together
with other people.
- Be
proactive, a fast learner, consistent, accurate and methodical. This
is a very busy shop so you need the ability to maintain focus and
think on your feet. We will induct and train you but you will need
to be a flexible and proactive in your approach to work. You might
have to do unexpected things!
- Be
passionate about cycling or passionate about its possibilities. You
don't have to be a cycling enthusiast, but an interest in riding any
kind of bike, or active exercise, or keep fit, or outdoor activities
in general, is important. Initially no specialist knowledge would
be assumed. We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications

in bikes etc. etc.
FOR
A RETAIL ROLE:
- Have
an artistic streak. The job involves merchandising. The ability to
produce attractive product displays would be useful.
- Have
an interest in fashion, design or clothing. Experience in fashion
or clothing retail, or an eye for good design would be highly valued.
FOR
A WORKSHOP ROLE:
- Have
good technical or craft skills (be 'good with you hands').

VAT Cut
We
have, of course, passed on the VAT cut in the form of a retail discount.
For convenience, until we change to our new website,
most prices on this website will continue to display the old price -
where this is the case, it is indicated at the top of the page in question.
Where it is not, such as with Gazelle, it isn't!
To calculate the new price simply knock off 2.13% (off the gross price;
2.5% is knocked off the net price). Our sale prices on the Market Stall
page are the actual price displayed. If in doubt - and you may be! -

stock ELECTRA. If you haven't heard of them yet, they are quite simply
the grooviest, sexiset, comfiest and most equisitely finished cycles
that you have ever seen.

Clothing - Best in the area
We have what we reckon to be the best
range of cycle clothing in the area. Most of it is displayed in a quiet
upstairs showroom when you can try the garments on away from the bustle
of the main shop. What's more, our prices are keen and
we will price match anything in clothing on current lines, so
why buy online when you can come to us - a real bike shop and try it
on. From gloves to jackets we have it all.

We are
an independent, community based cycle shop, located near the city centre
of York, England
(see map for directions).
Started
in 1993, we are a relatively young company, but we've had to grow up
fast in Britain's premier cycling city, because for Yorkies cycling
is more than just a lifestyle - it's a way of life. Yorkies live on
their bikes, and they use them for just about everything you could possibly
imagine. We've cut our teeth in a culture of commuting and utility cycling,
and for this reason you will find that many of the products and services
that we offer are slightly different to that of other shops. Why not

We have a very busy and respected workshop and fix thousands of cycles
each year. Work is done by Cytech accredited
mechanics, and we are a Shimano Service Centre.
We can handle all the usual stuff and have developed a particular expertise
in Hub gears (common in York, not so elsewhere); and dynamo lighting
systems. Cycle Heaven also
sponsors North Yorkshire Ambulance Service's
cycle paramedics and supplies cycles and equipment
to the North Yorkshire Police.
This
Website…
..is under continuous development. The main focus on this site is on
the bikes that we sell, but because we are a fully comprehensive bikeshop
we have a vast collection of accessories and clothing which we do not
have the time or the resources to feature here. If you wish to view
the rest of our products then you are welcome to follow the links to
some of our manufacturer's and supplier's websites. Better still, as
we believe in face to face relationships, why not pay us a visit. That
way you can get to test ride our bikes for real!
